Dental Assisting

The field of dental assisting is predicted to be among the fastest growing occupations in the country. Since dental assistants are in constant demand, career options include both full-time and part-time with financially rewarding opportunities. The profession is both challenging and satisfying, offering a flexible, fast-paced atmosphere where there is seldom time to be bored.

Dr. Mark Wassef, DMD, directs the Dental Assisting Program at the NJ Premier Institute. The curriculum prepares students for immediate entry into the field with a 13-week intensive course that includes classroom study, clinical lab exercises, and hands on experience at Dr. Wassef’s adjoined practice, Glenwood Premier Dental. Best of all, students can complete their 100-hour internship at Glenwood Premier Dental, with Dr. Wassef.

The Dental Assistant plays a key role in delivering patient care and will gain knowledge in dental terminology, anatomy, instrumentation, patient care, infection control, dental radiology and all area’s of general dentistry to include oral surgery and implants. Responsibilities of a Dental Assistant can include:

• Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
• Taking and developing dental radiographs
• Taking vitals
• Infection control procedures
• Patient education
• Patient care in all dental specialties, including pediatrics, orthodontics, implants, oral surgery and periodontics

Graduates of the NJ Premier Institute for Medical and Dental Training will receive a Certificate of Completion in both Dental Assisting and Dental Radiology upon successfully achieving all program requirements and will be eligible to sit for the NJ Dental Radiology Exam.

Students must be at least 18 years of age and have ownership of a high school diploma or GED.
